In keeping with the idea of increasing your income from a second or home based business, I’d like to touch on the idea of passive income. In other words, the kind where you wake up in the morning (or afternoon if you choose) and find out that you have had money added to your account.

There are lots of ways to do just that, but I want to write about just one of them today. It’s called Amazon Associates.

Amazon had this brilliant idea that they would “hire” thousands of external salespeople to help push their products. What they have done is give these salespeople an affiliate ID that is linked back to them. For instance, when you click on the link to Amazon Associates, you are taken to the Amazon website where that you can order items as you normally would. The only difference is that the referring person gets a small commission.

While you probably won’t get rich overnight, this idea combined with the affiliate programs of other companies can certainly add an extra source of income to your household. The nice thing about the Amazon program is that you are only limited by the amount of advertising that you choose to do.

Since the Amazon program is generally percentage based, the larger priced items will make you more money. Here’s a thought… suppose you take some of the information you have learned from me so far and set up a simple blog that talks about and compares certain products.

Say you are very versed on mp3 players. Why not talk about and compare brands and features of the players and the provide links for each product in the event that a customer wants to purchase the product now. Easy to do and you can make a few dollars each time someone buys. Add the different accessories and increase your income by upselling.

If you are interested in setting up your own program, just go to Amazon.com and click on the associates tab. If it doesn’t interest you, save this link and use it anytime you order from Amazon in the future. It might make me a couple extra bucks and encourage me to continue to add more useful information to this site.

OK, more ideas on how to produce an extra income next time.

Do you need a loan until payday? Considering that payday could be next Friday, as soon as you get a new job or even when your internet site revenues start to pick up, it all depends. In the current economic environment that we are in, it certainly doesn’t hurt to have a possible source of income should we really need it.

If you find yourself in a pinch, here are a few companies that may be able to help you out during a temporary financial setback. Remember that the concept of this site is to show you some additional sources of income, so having affiliates such as these can be rewarding. Although Google does not want the advertisers telling people to click on the Google AdWords found on the side of this site because it could be a source of click fraud, there may be times that the sites that advertise have better or other options than what is on the site itself.

While we will discuss Google AdWords and AdSense later, let me just say they are two programs that allow others to advertise on my site and me to advertise on theirs. If someone clicks on their link on my site, it costs them and I make a small percentage of that. That is why you should not click on the links just to help generate cash for the site owner. It is wrong and I do not condone it, but that said, if you see something that interests you, feel free to check it out.

In no particular order are some payday and quick cash loan options…

Again, just to make sure you understand, these are short-term loans, hence the name payday loans. I encourage you to spend wisely and, most importantly, invest in your education and your future. That’s what this blog is all about.

Be back soon!

In my past couple blogs, I have discussed starting a blog and where to get hosting for whatever type of site you choose. It’s now time to talk a little about what to expect if you are intending on having a website.

You really have three choices. You can have a site built and be completely hands-off, you can build your own site and do all the work or you can do anything in between. Although I host most of my sites and blogs, I have one site that I do nothing with and one that is hosted for me and is essentially a “template”, but I can add or delete content or change things as needed to a certain extent.

If you are looking for a simple website, HostCabin.com, as site we wrote about before, offers them free when they are hosting your site. Lonexis also an inexpensive host that allows you to build sites using software they supply. These sites are usually fairly basic unless you have a little more knowledge of the software they use.

One of my favorite sites is Go Daddy! Not only do they offer $7.95 domain names (if you use this link), but they offer site design tools and hosting also. Here, you can get the complete package.

One company which claims they are the Ultimate Guide to Joomla (a website building software) offers video assistance to get you started and on the road to creating beautiful sites in no time. While you can pay hundreds of dollars for “professional” site building programs, companies like XsitePro.com can help make professional looking websites quickly and easily. I have seen some of the sites using this program and was very impressed. Of course, it helps if you are creative, but even then, you can find a site you like and model yours off it.

If you are looking to just jump on the internet and throw up a bunch of quick sites that make money based on specific keywords, that’s possible also. There are a lot of people who are affiliates or who have no product to sell that make good money (some make tens of thousands a month, but very few). They just pick particular keywords and get paid for “referrals” to a site that offers the product.

Some of these site builders include SiteBuilder Elite, Content Website Builder, Ultimate Content Creator Pro, and Minute Sites. My suggestion would be to take a look at all the above sites before you decide one one (or even two), as they are all a little different in their approach to making money from websites.

If you are one of those people who wants to have everything done for you, that’s no problem either. You can Google “website design” and check out the 91 million search results (REALLY). I would suggest looking at the sites they have designed in the past to see if you like their style. If not, move on, as there are lots of other individuals and companies looking for your business.

That’s enough for now. No need to overload you.

Talk to you again soon.

PS. Since this is a blog, it is a little less formal and a little more like I am writing just for you. That’s because I am.
