A Website Of My Own
In my past couple blogs, I have discussed starting a blog and where to get hosting for whatever type of site you choose. It’s now time to talk a little about what to expect if you are intending on having a website.
You really have three choices. You can have a site built and be completely hands-off, you can build your own site and do all the work or you can do anything in between. Although I host most of my sites and blogs, I have one site that I do nothing with and one that is hosted for me and is essentially a “template”, but I can add or delete content or change things as needed to a certain extent.
If you are looking for a simple website, HostCabin.com, as site we wrote about before, offers them free when they are hosting your site. Lonexis also an inexpensive host that allows you to build sites using software they supply. These sites are usually fairly basic unless you have a little more knowledge of the software they use.
One of my favorite sites is Go Daddy! Not only do they offer $7.95 domain names (if you use this link), but they offer site design tools and hosting also. Here, you can get the complete package.
One company which claims they are the Ultimate Guide to Joomla (a website building software) offers video assistance to get you started and on the road to creating beautiful sites in no time. While you can pay hundreds of dollars for “professional” site building programs, companies like XsitePro.com can help make professional looking websites quickly and easily. I have seen some of the sites using this program and was very impressed. Of course, it helps if you are creative, but even then, you can find a site you like and model yours off it.
If you are looking to just jump on the internet and throw up a bunch of quick sites that make money based on specific keywords, that’s possible also. There are a lot of people who are affiliates or who have no product to sell that make good money (some make tens of thousands a month, but very few). They just pick particular keywords and get paid for “referrals” to a site that offers the product.
Some of these site builders include SiteBuilder Elite, Content Website Builder, Ultimate Content Creator Pro, and Minute Sites. My suggestion would be to take a look at all the above sites before you decide one one (or even two), as they are all a little different in their approach to making money from websites.
If you are one of those people who wants to have everything done for you, that’s no problem either. You can Google “website design” and check out the 91 million search results (REALLY). I would suggest looking at the sites they have designed in the past to see if you like their style. If not, move on, as there are lots of other individuals and companies looking for your business.
That’s enough for now. No need to overload you.
Talk to you again soon.

PS. Since this is a blog, it is a little less formal and a little more like I am writing just for you. That’s because I am.
